We pride ourselves in our plethora of safari lodge clients. They make our jobs fun and give us that “itch” to go out and explore their slices of Africa. But when we can’t sneak in as many visits as we’d like, we virtually tap into the experience via their wildlife photography, or as we like to call, “Wildography.”
Here are a collection of our absolute favourite wild photographs from our safari clients: The journey begins on our home ground of KZN and travels up to the wildest national park we know, South Luangwa.
Rhino River Lodge:
Rhino River Lodge is a Big 5 safari lodge located in our diverse stomping grounds, KZN. The lodge is as cosy as it gets, situated in Zululand’s 23,000 hectare private game reserve. We love that it’s close to Hluhluwe, but far enough away from the popular tourist destination, offering guests a truly intimate safari experience. Our very own Paul snapped this rhino shot (Note: not a single game drive vehicle in sight.)
The Ant Collection:
Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill Bush Homes is located on their very own private game reserve in the malaria-free Waterberg region of the Limpopo province. They are wild about horses and offer one of the best safari experiences on horseback for all riding abilities. Recently, owner Ant Baber caught a magical moment behind the lens- capturing an inquisitive male leopard in broad daylight. Unfortunately as soon as one of the horse riders raced to him, he slunk away into the long grass.
Musango is situated on its own island on Lake Kariba, just off the shoreline of Matusadona National Park. But in non-geographical terms, it’s the land where ellies roam freely and the sun rises and sets with extra grace and beauty. Owner’s Wendy and Steve Edwards run the 16 bedded island camp, and together are known as charismatic hosts, each playing to their strengths. Wendy is superwoman when it comes to making guests feel at home and Steve’s guiding is the best in the safari business.
Steve took this photograph and could perhaps teach you a thing or two about working the camera.
Robin Pope Safaris:
Robin Pope Safaris is known for getting people addicted to Africa. Their luxury Zambia and Malawi lodges and expert guiding are top of their class. Their South Luangwa based lodges all offer day and night game drives into South Luangwa National Park and I’m sure we aren’t the first ones to claim that the park is one of the wildest places on earth. Recently guests were spoiled to sightings of dozens of lions and kills.
This photo in particular is of a lioness somewhat patiently waiting her turn to enjoy the male giraffe feast.
