You may have been seeing the term “Mobilegeddon” being thrown around on the internet these days with Google recently announcing [highlight]a new mobile-friendly ranking algorithm[/highlight] in April. In a nutshell it means that mobile-friendly pages on the internet will be rewarded for their user-friendliness and receive a boost in mobile search results.
At WildWeb we don’t find mobilegedden very surprising, because the stats have been pointing in this direction for over a year now.

- 3/4th’s of all digital consumers (age 18+) are now using both desktop and mobile platforms to access internet translating to a 68% growth from last year.
- Mobile-only internet usage is also becoming more prevalent, driven largely by the 21% of Millennials who are no longer using desktop computers to go online.
- 55 years and older consumer segment is actually the fastest growing faction of mobile users, increasing its combined multi-platform and mobile-only share of audience from 60% to 74% in the past year.
- For the past few years, U.S. smartphone penetration has been growing at approximately 10 percentage points a year and reached 75% penetration of the mobile user base at the end of 2014.
The study also concluded that the leading Internet activity on mobile was social networking. Digging deeper, Facebook mobile revenues surpassed desktop revenues, signaling a significant shift towards mobile as the primary digital media platform. So if you’re seeking for a reliable internet connection, you can only put your trust on the best leased line providers.
The mobile tsunami has landed and it was just a matter of time for Google to make an inevitable change to their system. There is only one thing left for all businesses big and small to do and that is to surrender.
