Not only do we work in an industry with a diverse working environment that takes us virtually to different parts of the African continent where the Big 5 roam and wonders of the world are located, but we sometimes get to tag along on some very Durbanite adventures too.
This Wednesday the marketing team (ladies first) were whisked away to the Royal Natal Yacht Club for a sailing evening with WildWeb owner Paul, who is also known to participate in sailing competitions like the annual Vasco De Gama Race from KZN to Mozambique.
See Paul’s video of last year’s race here .
Every Wednesday when 4 o’clock rolls around in the office, we witness Paul excitedly pack up his technology and head to the Yacht Club for Wednesday Yacht Club Night Racing . This time around, we also felt that “4 o’clock feeling” in anticipation of our summer evening sailing in the bay.
The evening was glorious for us first time sailors as we clinched a spot to accompany the regulars on this mid-week tradition. The harbour often gets overlooked as a Durban attraction, but really shouldn’t; especially on Wednesdays at around 5pm. The harbour is sprinkled with sailboats swaying left to right then right to left, catching the last rays of the evening. Sailors are passing each other by with a wave, smile, and distant cheers with beer in hand.
We lazily sat back and enjoyed the water show while the men were doing the hard labor work. But we didn’t feel too bad knowing they do this every week for the love of the hobby. What an incredible view which one can enjoy even further if they decide to play games like 카지노 먹튀.
Even when the “sailing competition” was over, we parked off on the water for a hearty braai, lackadaisical chatter, and good tunes that later turned into guitar playing and karaoke. It was the kind of summer evening that one dreams about.
Life on a boat is a good life indeed. Although the saying can’t always be lived during the 8-5 working hour span, we are fortunate to have a boss that spoils us to the occasional evening, enjoying a setting where time doesn’t seem to exist at all. Sailing the Durban harbour on a random Wednesday evening is just one of those dreamy occasions. Oh the perks of being a WildWeb employee…
