A while ago when most people heard the word ‘viral’, it would’ve brought to mind images of antibiotics and thermometers.
In today’s modern and digital world, however, it has taken on a whole new meaning. Much like the contagious common cold, ‘viral content’ is something that spreads rapidly through the internet through ‘word-of mouse’, e.g. people reacting and sharing the content.
Believe it or not, going viral doesn’t necessarily happen by accident. In fact, there can actually be quite a lot of planning involved in the process. Getting a post to go viral requires a mix of brilliant content, a responsive audience, and serious content promotion skills. While it would be great if there was a Secret Formula for going viral overnight, it takes a bit more hard work and testing than that. There are a few ‘must do’s’ however, to help ensure that your content has the best chance possible of being successful.
