Step aside Angry Birds. Say hello to Tomato Bounce.

There is no denying that Flash based, arcade style, online games are a world wide success. A fun flash game, embedded on your website, definitely pulls repeat visitors to your site. Tomato Bounce is one such game, which we have customised for All Gold / Tiger Brands. We purchased Tomato Bounce from a web vendor, packaged it and tweaked it with some action script animation to fit All Gold’s taste – featuring All Gold tomato sauce bottles,  branding and all.

In the end we handed over an addictive little game where you have to use a spatula to help flip characters of tomatoes across a room, to escape the deadly salad bowl. And similar to the 70’s video game hit, ‘Breakout’,  where you smash a layer of bricks and collect special powers from hidden treasures locked in the bricks, Tomato Bounce has salt shakers or some other sort of kitchen apprentice falling from the kitchen roof, which, when caught, gives your spatula super powers. Miss a few tomatoes to the floor and the game, she is over. Keep the bounce going and every 1000 points advances you to a new level. So, the dynamics of the game keeps changing and the challenge keeps you playing. In the end, like most arcade style video games, having fun while racking up a high score is the goal of Tomato Bounce.

All Gold’s motive for Tomato Bounce is to host an online tournament for their employees who can (during office breaks) compete for the highest score and win prizes. And saying that we did not have some fun with it before handing it over to them would be a lie. In testing the game we created a team tournament where all the WildWeb employees competed against each other for the golden spatula. Like we said before, the game is addictive and much time was spent ‘testing’ Tomato Bounce, even after we launched it on All Gold’s website. Currently, David, one of our staff members, holds the golden spatula with a score of 8525 points.

Yesterday, we thought that it would be a good idea to up the ante and, in good competitive spirit, open our little tournament up to the public. We calling it ‘WildWeb against the world’.

To kick it off we created a shared an open guest login (named WildWeb visitor) for you to access the game and compete against all of the WildWeb team members. Sadly, there are no prizes up for grabs, apart from bragging rights and the inner victory of knowing that you claimed the golden spatula from David’s grasps.

So, why not go ahead, click here to play Tomato Bounce. We challenge you!
