Rhino River Lodge is a Big Five safari lodge on the banks of the Msunduze River, in the Zululand Rhino Reserve. It lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty, renowned for spectacular wildlife and its unique African culture. The lodge offers you an intimate and comfortable safari experience, with excellent game viewing and luxury accommodation. Which is what they wanted communicated through their new website that we launched for them at the end of April.
We stuck to our guns when it came to the website’s content wrapper width. With the majority of you in web world browsing on 1280 pixels, or wider, monitors we faithfully went with the full bodied approach on this one. 1200 pixels to be exact. Apologies for those of you still on narrower monitors. If we stuck to yesteryear’s designs we would soon find our creative mojo becoming more and more irrelevant.
Another impression you will notice when you first log onto the website, at rhinoriverlodge.co.za, is the powerful imagery. For a real treat head on over to their gallery page: rhinoriverlodge.co.za/gallery.php
Thanks to their epic location and sensual visuals we were able to use their awesome images to impact on the websites visuals. Another worthy mention for this website is the fonts. If you have a squizz at the headings you will notice the ‘flowery’ freehand font. We think it complements the sophisticated and readable body font we used.
Thanks to CSS3, which most browsers support, nowadays, we are able to embed fonts directly into the style sheet. Fonts are a funny, fiddly things and if your computer or browser does not recognise a certain one, it can break. Embedding them, like we did, means that they won’t default on you.
