exclusivetravelchoice.com – slaying a web2.0 dragon

Although we have been creating websites for the tourist industry for over a decade the job never gets old. I think this is because we are always striving to keep ahead of the curve, overcome new technical challenges and slay some web 2.0 dragons along the way. In the end, the conquest for us is the reward of beating our chest and sinking a few cold beverages as we gloat over another job well done. This exactly was the outcome when we flipped the switch on exclusivetravelchoice.com

Exclusive Travel Choice (ETC) is a reputed tourism marketing company in Europe that services the German, Austrian and Swiss tourist market, offering holidays to specific lodges and travel destinations in Eastern and Southern Africa. When they approached us with the task of creating their new website, with some niche bells and whistles, we knew that this beast was going to be a tough one to master. Nevertheless, we polished our armor, sharpened our blades and confidently tackled the task at hand.

The main challenge was to come up with a specific way that ETC could update and showcase their destinations on their website while, at the same time, provide agent and customer access to more detailed info, on request.

The answer to the above was to get our hands dirty in the dark arts of PHP and construct a unique content management system (CMS) that could switch translations, offer multi-level user logins and have an all-encompassing management tool for administrators to update the site.

All in all, when the job was done, and we had time to reflect, we certainly sunk a few well deserved cold ones.
