We at WildWeb are not always focused on the bottom line and trying to turn a tidy profit – the good ‘ol capitalist way. Ney, sometimes we like to take the opportunity to help a brother, or in this case, a ‘mama’ out. Yes, sometimes we polish our Noddy Badge and help elderly ladies cross the road, to get to Woolies, and occasionally we build and host websites (free of charge) for small, growing charities who we admire. This was the case when we built and launched kwamama.co.za for the Kwa-Mama community care centre, at Shaka’s Head, up the KZN North Coast.

Kwa-Mama began, around a year ago, near Ballito, as a facility for the disadvantaged community to bath their children. Fast-forward to today, a whole bunch of uncompromised focus, unconditional love, and a healthy backing of volunteers later, Kwa-Mama has skyrocketed into a fully-fledged pre-school.

Every day, the good folks at Kwa-Mama pull up their sleeves and see to the education, care and feeding over 200 registered little ones, who are being looked after in a safe environment and learning to play, share and be together without being made to feel different. After a year’s community service Kwa-Mama has made a real difference helping approximately 150 parents and surrogates to go to or seek work, safe in the knowledge that their children are being looked after. Good people to build a website for, don’t you think?

Charities thrive on the goodwill of others and need more than just word of mouth to facilitate donations and the service of volunteers.
We thought that Kwa-Mama could get a real media boost if they could reach out to a broader public via a news blog so we decided to build the website on a WordPress template. This will allow Kwa-Mama to manage their own information on a super efficient level. They will be able to update a wish list and generally broaden their reach when it comes to acquiring donations and volunteers. They can simply log in to their website, post their latest newsletters, add event galleries and have it all automatically feed to their Facebook community.

The next step is to get them registered with their Non Profit Organisation on a pay-gate system so that online visitors can click a button fill in a quick donation form and give financially to their worthy cause.

Give the website a visit here www.kwamama.co.za and while you are at it, check out their Facebook page too and give it a LIKE.
