At the end of May, we ‘put to sea’ the brand new website for Durban Marina. If you are a true Durban local you most definitely would have passed by Durban Marina before. They are the fine establishment halfway up Victoria Embankment, offering safe harbour to 100’s of yachts, ski-boats and catamarans, across from the main road. You can’t miss the stacks of tall masts, when you drive past. If you have (for some strange reason) not noticed it before, take a look the next time you head up Victoria Embankment. It is quite an inspiring site.
If you are not heading past the VC, anytime soon, then why not log onto their new website for a poke around. Our friends at Durban Marina came to us with the request of designing them a slick new website after we launched their neighbor’s new website – the Royal Natal Yacht Club.
Both DM and the RNYC (yes we are on abbreviation terms) were designed on the ever trustworthy WordPress framework. The reason being was that WordPress is created for the layman in mind. And, DM wanted a website that was easy for them to manage their own content, after we handed it over.
One of the most interesting features on the website is the ‘Facility and Services’ page – Click here to view. This page contains two custom Google Maps, which were embedded into the page. The dynamic maps offer Durban Marina’s, handpicked, marine service locations as well as other recommended entertainment, dining and service locations, close to their locale. The website is targeted towards their current mooring (nice word for parking boat spaces) clients, as well as possible new clientele. And we feel we have done a damn fine job at it :).
