Under One Botswana Sky has blessed the Chobe area with another wonderful lodge and the “Chobe gods” are dancing from up above. As if 5 safari properties weren’t enough, they added one last lodge for a happy family of six. Each one has a special charm of its own and Chobe Bush Lodge is no different.
We chatted to Under One Botswana Sky’s Miriam, and she answered our Chobe Bush Lodge questions with such style and ease.
1. The #ThisIsChobe Twitter campaign created plenty of positive publicity for the Chobe area recently (see our blog on it here.) What do you think is so special about the Chobe National Park and its surrounds?
It is the most prolific wildlife area in Africa. The park has the largest surviving elephant population on earth. If you visit the Chobe area, it’s a guarantee that these grey giants will pay you a respected and entertaining visit!
2. What makes Chobe Bush Lodge so uniquely special?
Without a doubt the location. The lodge is situated directly on the border with the Chobe National Park. Right on our doorstep four African countries meet (Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia).
3. Describe how a typical day unfolds at Chobe Bush Lodge.
The day would start with an early morning game drive that offers the opportunity to view the abundant elephant and other big game species up close, and also the possibility of an encounter with one of the large predators. A scrumptious buffet breakfast will wait back at the lodge upon your return. After a leisurely time by the pool and light lunch at the lodge, an afternoon sunset cruise on Chobe River departs to wow you with one of the finest game viewing experiences in Africa. With over 80,000 elephant in the park alone, they are a very frequent sighting. Hippo, water birds, buffalo, crocodile and puku are also viewed from the river. Indulge in fine dining experience over dinner at our a la carte restaurant to end the evening festivities.
4. What is a must-do activity offered at Chobe Bush Lodge? Something no guest should miss out on?
A game drive in Chobe National Park and a sunset cruise on the Chobe River.
5. What is the best time of year/season to visit Chobe Bush Lodge?
Game viewing is at its peak during the dry winter months of May to October when animals are concentrated in ever increasing numbers at water sources as the dry season wears on. For keen birders Botswana is a year round destination with green season (December –March) being the best time for both numbers and diversity of bird species.
6. How many days would you recommend a guest should stay at Chobe Bush Lodge and why?
A minimum of 3 nights to leisurely enjoy the best of game viewing activities with possibility of a day visit to Victoria Falls, which is only 1hr 30min from Chobe Bush Lodge.
7. Any recent safari tales you can share with us? Or upcoming news?
An observation platform situated in a natural river course on the property with fine views of the adjoining Chobe National Park will soon be added to the lodge. Stay tuned via Facebook and our website.
A very warm welcome to Chobe Bush Lodge. May your lodge be filled with as many happy memories as there are elephant in the Chobe National Park.
